The journey of BAC began when Broughton Amiss identified an opportunity to operate as an import/ export clearing agent for the duty-free retail outlets in the International Airside Terminal of the Johannesburg International Airport (now the O.R. Tambo International Airport). The initial idea of BAC was to approach all new tenants at the airport who were successful at obtaining retail space in the extended terminal, and offer them specialised customs administration and import/export expertise.
Little did BAC realise that at the time, almost all new stores also needed operational and specialised retail knowledge of how to trade within this highly specific space. BAC soon found themselves consulting on a wide range of subjects and services, well over and above what was initially planned. And so developed BAC into the complete Logistics, Transport and Retail Services solution it’s known as today.
A NOTE FROM THE BOSS
The past 20 years have culminated to a tremendous milestone for Broughton Amiss Consulting, as we have continually achieved impressive organic growth. This could not have been possible without the unwavering support of our clients, some who have stood with us from inception.
Our focus on customer satisfaction and unrivalled service provision has been the anchor stone for BAC, coupled with the consistency in staff retention. As directors of this emerging logistics giant, it is imperative that we create a conducive and happy environment for our staff because they are the cornerstone of the successes of the company.
It is worth highlighting that the demand of professional road freight transporters saw the company invest heavily in establishing a road transport division, whose main focus is to move goods within south Africa and regional states. This division has created employment opportunities for our people and this makes us proud, to be a contributor not only to the fiscus but the general populace of South Africa.
We have recorded massive growth in our air and sea freight departments, which for years have been our anchors. These departments, alongside our bond stores, have for the past 20 years built the foundation of success the company currently rests on. The stability of this foundation is the reason why BAC, in the coming years, will officially launch a Cape Town office and another office in Harare, Zimbabwe.
2018 and 2019 have given us a glimpse into the future. Adopting a new system in Cargo Wise was just the first move of the many we intend to make utilising integrated technology. It is clear that BAC is becoming the preferred one stop logistics solution for some of the world’s blue chip companies, and this excites us greatly because BIG or Small, we move it all—through our integrated sea, air and road systems.
As the future is laid bare in the Lord’s eyes, so is the future safe in the hands of his guidance. Our aim remains to continuously strive to have happy clients who become part of our family.
